CG Society.org
The biggest and best CG related site & forum on the net. Want to see the best CG artwork?, get your work critiqued?, need help with something? This is the place to go. |
3D Total.com
Large high-end galleries and a shit load of tuts. Go British, go to 3DTotal. |
ZBrushCentral.com
So you just got a copy of ZBrush and have no idea of what to do next, check out ZBrush central for everything ZBrushy. Galleries, Tuts, Tips & Tricks, Scripts, Alphas, Base Meshes. If you can use it with ZBrush then they probably have it, and if they don't, well who told you to go there anyway? |
TheBlueprints.com
This is pretty much the best place on the net to get your hands on good blueprints. They literally have thousands to choose from! Like: Cars, Trucks, Military Vehicles, Jets, Planes, Ships, Guns, Weapons, Electronics, etc....If you're searching for a print, I'd recommend checking them out first! And by the way it's free! |
CGArena.com
Big gallery, lots of tutorials, free stuff...what more do you people want? |
VFXWorld.com
Everything related to movie and TV Visual Effects, Lots of in-depth articles, behind the scenes features and other good stuff. |

3D Studio Max
What can I say, this is the package I learned CG on and it's still the main app for my personal pipeline. Sure it costs the same as a decent car or mail-order bride, but it's totally worth it! |
Vray
This is in my opinion is the best renderer for achieving realism, Mind you I haven't tried some of the other renderers out there like brazil or maxwell. So maybe I'm just full of shit:) |
Photoshop
A must have for any and every CG Artist out there. Never leave home without it! |
ZBrush
Zbrush revolutionized the 3d industry and made traditional character modeling obsolete. Guys that have been using ZBrush for a month can get a better result then guys who have been modeling characters the traditional way for years. But, hey that's life. |
Mudbox
Similar to Zbrush, but without all the bells and whistles. It has a simpler interface design and is easier to get going in then ZBrush. Map extraction is also streamlined, but lacks the ability to finely tune the output. |
UVLayout
UV mapping got you down? Hate mapping shit the usual slow ass way? Check out this third party mapper, it's super fast and easy to use. Separate out complex models in a few minutes rather then a few days. Leaves you more time to search for porn on the net! Sounds like a win-win situation to me! |
